When shopping for drums check out what you are going to get for your money. Cheaper sets come with cymbals, more expensive and better quality sets do not include them. Expensive drumsets are usually sold as "Shell Kits" and do not include hardware either.

More expensive drum sets will produce a 'richer' sound with punchier lows and brighter highs. There is a lot involved in drum manufacturing that will determine the sound of the drum kit you buy. This includes the types of wood selected to make the drum. Birch and Maple are used in more expensive drums and produce a more 'professional sound'.

If your buying your first kit the Pearl Export Series is a good choice. You can purchase these for around $500 to $700 and they include enough hardware to get started on drums.

You can often find some great deals on the internet for used drums. Try visiting Ebay, they usually have at least 100 used drum kits for sale. Many times parents will buy drums for their children only to find that after a short time they lose interest. Then these drums end up for sale as used. A good deal for you!

The bottom line is, learn all you can about drum quality before you purchase a drum kit, don't be hasty, shop around and you will save money.
